Lava Tours is a small company: a few carefully selected guides, one full-time mechanic and office staff.
Here are some of our guides bios:
Gio ¨The Specialist¨ Madrigal is the ultimate perfectionist before, during and after each trip. Due to his attention to detail and extensive birding knowledge he constantly receives accolades from our guests. His hobbies are biking, white water kayaking and bugging Javier (see below).
Javier "The Rock" Cano is another of our quirky guides. A teacher by training he is also a very knowledgeable guide with many years of outdoor guiding experience including river guiding, biking and trekking. He is also our in-house comedian and trip designer.
José ¨Wiki¨ Cocozza is the company´s oldest guide...both in tenure and age (sorry, José). He is the proud father of two boys who will one day expert cyclists (something that José will never achieve). José is also our own walking encyclopedia and is fluent in German and Italian in addition to Spanish and English.
Marcos ¨Aquaman¨ Soto specializes not only in biking and hiking but also is an expert sailor, or so he says. He is frequently seen guiding trips on ocean faring ships and his wealth of knowledge and experience is simply amazing. He is the proud father of a boy.
Michael ¨Macho Man¨ Alfaro is one of our recent additions. He is currently finishing his university degree but has ample guiding experience already. His expertise is biology and nature interpretation. Oh and guests fall in love with him too!
